The major cost of hosting a kosher Jewish simcha is the cost of kosher catering. The cost per meal is far higher than the cost of an equivalent meal at a kosher restaurant. This makes even the most “modest” kosher simcha into an extravagant expense.

I suggest an investigation into the high cost of kosher catering.

avrum, you are overlooking one dealtale that when you spend more. you kept more
people working. it very important to put money in jews pockects. also it nice to see
jews to enjoy the nite not worried about day to day problems. more you put in more
you enjoy.

Avrum – Bravo on your article “Jewish Simchahs are Bankruptng us”
You got it right on. I totally agree with all your comments. My husband and I constantly rehash about this whenever we are invited to any event, wedding, bar mitzvah etc. We have a modest income. Both our family’s are well to do. You can only imagine what we feel.

Thanks for writing this article – Next time I am invited to a simcha, I would like to enclose a copy in the RSVP card!!!
